Every time property is purchased in Queensland, stamp duty must be paid to the State Government as tax upon the purchase. The amount of Stamp Duty you will pay is determined by whether you are a 1st Home Buyer, owner occupier or non concessional purchaser.
Our friendly team can determine whether you are eligible for any concessions or grants. Most people do not know the criteria of the 1st Home Owners Grant and automatically assume they are not eligible when they really are! If you have only owned an investment property or vacant land, you may still be eligible for $7,000. Give us a call on 07 5477 5444 to find out more.
If you are aware of the category you fall into, you can calculate the approximate Stamp Duty by referring to the table below. You should cross reference the value of the property against the column that applies to your situation.
You can also calculate the approximate cost of ‘DNR Transfer fees’ by cross referencing the last column against the property value. You will always have to pay DNR Transfer fees, regardless of which category you fall into. The only time you may be exempt from this fee is if the sale of the property has been ordered by a Court. |
